TRC hit the red carpet

In September, excitement in the TRC office grew with the huge announcement that we had been chosen as a finalist in the Thomson Reuters 2013 Recruitment Excellence Awards for Best Employer Brand. Being chosen as a finalist in the competition meant the team received an invite to the coveted Awards Gala Dinner on October 25th.

The Recruitment Excellence Awards were launched in 2008, with the aim to recognise excellence, innovation and professionalism in the Australian recruitment industry through the assessment of self-nominated businesses. The winners of each award category are determined by a panel of expert, independent judges from within the Australian recruitment industry. Admirably known in the recruitment industry as the "Oscars" event of the industry, the chance to be a part of the awards evening is highly sought after.

After running a company wide incentive, 10 lucky members of the TRC team were chosen to take a seat at the company table at the Awards Gala Dinner. The evening began with pre-gala cocktails in the TRC office, with the girls donning their finest evening and cocktail dresses while the guys suited up in their most dapper suits. The gala took place at the Art Gallery of New South Wales so it was just a short walk for the team from the TRC office to the venue.

The evening began with a red carpet entrance and a professional group photo shoot. The team then moved onto the Art Gallery floor where they were greeted with bubbles and canapés, all the while taking in the sights and sounds of a live art performance.

After the performance, the team were seated in the dining area where they were indulged with an amazing three course dinner and more live entertainment. As the dinner went on, the awards ceremony began and the anticipation in the room grew as the category of Best Employer Brand was closer to being announced. The competition was tough, with TRC going up against many prestigious companies including the likes of Telstra. In the end, it was announced that Telstra was the winner in the Best Employer Brand category.

Although TRC weren't announced as winners in their category, the team did not let the loss get them down. Instead they seized the evening and celebrated in true TRC style - in good company with drinks flowing freely. The team had a great time at the Awards Gala Dinner and are already thinking about their competition entry for next year, hoping to be able to be a part of the Awards Gala Dinner again in 2014.
