A Perfect Friday Afternoon

Submitted on Mon 25 Jan 2016

Having visited a few of the other restaurants on the swanky strip, the bar was set high but China Doll delivered the best. The food and cocktails where beautiful!

Despite it being a busy lunchtime period, the staff where friendly and attentive. We had already got a few menu recommendations from friends (dumplings and pork belly) but the waitress advised us on food appropriate pairings and what would be most suitable for a group of three.

We started with Mango Bellini’s to warm up, then a bottle of red to combine for the food which consisted of; Corn & Zucchini Cakes w Coriander Chilli Sambal, Crispy Dumplings - Chicken Prawn & Scallop w Red Vinegar and from the small plates menu Duck Pancakes – all exceptional!

Then for the mains we had the Green Curry of Flathead w Snake Beans & Thai Basil (nice and chunky with a good amount of kick) and the Crispy Pork Belly w Chilli Caramel & Nam Pla Phrik and a side of Barbecue Pork & Prawn Fried Rice which was so delicious we didn’t think we would finish but was so nice we couldn’t leave it alone!

We glanced at the desert menu but where all so full after the delicious mains so opted for two Espresso Martinis (10/10) and one “Kung Fu Panda” mocktail; mango, lime, ginger beer – sweet, sharp and nearly even made me get over the fact I can’t drink..(Not quite!)

We were so comfortable we couldn't bring ourselves to leave, the staff made us feel very welcome! We were full, content and excited to return and try more things on the menu.

Cracking 1st Lunch club of the year!
