This month, The Recruitment Company's Lunch Club headed south of the border (well, spiritually) and landed at Esteban, a Mexican spot that's become something of a Sydney legend for tacos, tequila, and that hard-to-pin-down "cool but cosy" vibe. A hungry crew rolled in with big appetites and even bigger expectations. Did Esteban live up to the hype? Spoiler: there were a lot of fives floating around. "My first time at Esteban and I was very impressed! We were a hungry group of 9. Such a cool, intimate spot. The Mexican dishes were top notch… ceviche, steaks and tacos were all 10/10. Awesome cocktail and mocktail list too. Big shout out to the UK waitress working there who knew every cocktail and gave us some awesome recommendations based on our preferences. Already recommended it to friends!"

"Esteban was awesome. The vegetarian menu was really varied and tasty. The tequila selection is amazing. And as I wasn't drinking, even the virgin margarita's were really tasty. The service was top notch. We had the same server the whole time, her recommendations hit the mark and she came over and said goodbye when she finished her shift which I think is a nice touch. Amazing venue, one of my favourite places in Sydney."
Final Thoughts…
Esteban delivered exactly what you want from a Lunch Club outing: outstanding food, a tequila list that could double as light reading, and service that hit the sweet spot between attentive and easygoing. From the ceviche to the steak to the (virgin) margaritas, just about every dish and drink earned its place at the table. Add in genuinely warm staff and an intimate, lively atmosphere, and it's no wonder the scorecard came back almost entirely in fives.
