Location: Galway | Contract: 12 months | Day Rate
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer for a 12-month day-rate contract based in Galway. You’ll play a key role in developing and modernising a large-scale data platform, with a strong focus on data modelling, cloud-native engineering and delivering reliable, analytics-ready data products using Snowflake and AWS.
4+ years’ experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering or Data Platform Engineering.
Strong data modelling expertise, including conceptual, logical, physical and dimensional modelling, with experience designing scalable data models for analytics and reporting.
Advanced SQL skills, including query optimisation and performance tuning.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake and AWS cloud services.
Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, ideally using event-driven architectures or real-time streaming technologies such as Kafka or Kinesis.
Knowledge of data warehousing, operational databases and modern data architectures.
Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, automated testing and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
Understanding of data quality, governance, security and monitoring practices.
Design and implement robust conceptual, logical and physical data models to support analytics, reporting and forecasting.
Develop and maintain high-quality, analytics-ready datasets and data products within Snowflake.
Build scalable, cloud-native data pipelines and integrations using AWS and streaming technologies.
Work with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into effective data solutions.
Implement data quality, monitoring, governance and security standards.
Automate deployments and improve development processes using CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code.
Support and continuously improve critical production data platforms, ensuring reliability, performance and scalability.
