I'm partnering with a client on the recruitment of a Senior Software Engineer to join its Platform Engineering team in Galway. This is an opportunity to work on a strategically important programme. With a strong technical focus, exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to contribute to architectural decisions, this role offers an excellent platform to develop your skills and make a meaningful impact.
As a key technical contributor, you'll help shape the next generation of applications, working closely with product owners, architects and fellow engineers to deliver reliable, secure and scalable solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing, developing and maintaining full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot and React.
- Building REST APIs and contributing to distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
- Participating in technical design discussions and helping shape architectural decisions.
- Collaborating across engineering and product teams to deliver high-quality software.
- Contributing to code reviews, automated testing and engineering best practices.
- Supporting and mentoring other developers while taking ownership of the quality and reliability of your solutions.
- Leveraging AI-assisted development tools as part of modern software engineering workflows.
What You Need to Bring
- Strong commercial experience in full-stack software development.
- Excellent knowledge of Java and Spring Boot for backend development.
- Experience building modern front-end applications using React or a comparable JavaScript framework.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs and working with distributed systems.
- A solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including design patterns, automated testing and CI/CD.
- Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
Experience with Kafka, cloud platforms, event-driven architecture or test automation frameworks would be an advantage.
