Senior Policy Officer

About the Role
The Official Community Visitor (OCV) scheme provides independent oversight of children and people with disability living in residential care. As a Senior Policy Officer, you will develop and strengthen the frameworks, guidelines, and strategies that support this important program.

Working closely with the OCV team, you will:

  • Develop, update and maintain policies, practices and guidelines to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Research and analyse complex policy issues, identifying risks and creating evidence-based solutions.
  • Provide expert policy advice to guide decision-making and implementation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders including OCVs, service providers and government agencies.
  • Monitor and report on policy initiatives to ensure delivery of key outcomes.
  • Mentor and support colleagues to embed quality and governance standards.

About You
You are a strong communicator with the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. With a background in policy development, you bring expertise in analysing complex information, providing strategic advice, and building collaborative relationships.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy development and implementation.
  • Commitment to safeguarding the rights of children, young people and people with disability.

MUST HAVE clear police check, Australian Permanent Residency or citizenship and reside in NSW.
