Helpline Consultant – Supporting Adults with Disability and Older People

Are you compassionate, quick-thinking, and experienced in community services?

We are seeking a Helpline Consultant to be the first point of contact for enquiries and reports about abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults with disability and older people. This is a hands-on, impactful role where your decisions can directly affect the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable adults.

 

About the Role
As the frontline of the office, you will respond to phone calls and emails, reviewing reports and making timely decisions on the appropriate response. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and respond to enquiries and reports about abuse, neglect, and exploitation in a person-centred way.
  • Review emails and phone reports to assess risk, urgency, and next steps.
  • Make prompt, informed decisions, including facilitating emergency responses (e.g., police or ambulance) if required.
  • Provide early case coordination and referrals to improve safety and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records and notes while handling multiple complex cases simultaneously.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and service providers to ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Participate in continuous learning to maintain contemporary and evidence-based practices.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in community services, case management, ageing, disability, child protection, or similar hands-on roles.
  • Strong ability to think quickly and make decisions under pressure.
  • Compassionate and professional, with excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain accurate notes, and process complex information effectively.
  • Resilient and confident in handling sensitive, high-stakes situations.

 

 

MUST HAVE clear police check, Australian Permanent Residency or citizenship and reside in NSW.
