Our client, a NSW Government Department is seeking a skilled generalist Business Analyst to join their dynamic team based in Sydney. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to key projects that drive business growth and operational excellence.
This role works closely with stakeholders, project teams, and technical staff to ensure business requirements are clearly defined, documented, and aligned to organisational objectives. This position is working as a Contractor, 3 days per week in the office Hybrid model - working up until end of June 2026.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document business and functional requirements.
Facilitate workshops, interviews, and other discovery activities to understand current processes and identify areas for improvement.
Develop business process models, user stories, use cases, and functional specifications to support solution design and implementation.
Collaborate with project managers, solution architects, and developers to translate requirements into practical solutions.
Support the development of business cases, project documentation, and benefits realisation plans.
Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, and options analysis for proposed changes.
Assist in testing, validation, and user acceptance activities to ensure solutions meet business needs.
Maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of BA tools, templates, and standards within the organisation.
Essential:
Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst within government or large, complex organisations.
Proven ability to gather and document business and system requirements.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.
Experience with business process mapping and requirements management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Visio).
Understanding of project delivery methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
High attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
