My client is an established Australian software business with a growing customer base locally and in the US. They are entering a major transformation phase, modernising their platform from a traditional VM-based environment to a native Azure, serverless architecture, unlocking scale, data insights, and future AI capability for their customers.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Mid–Senior DevOps Engineer to play a critical role across customer deployments, migrations, and platform modernisation. This role is both highly technical and highly customer-facing — guiding customers through deployments while also driving DevOps automation and uplift across the platform.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be expected to get your hands dirty technically, while also working directly with customers to understand requirements, manage deployments, and ensure successful outcomes.
Lead and support customer deployments and migrations, acting as a trusted technical guide throughout the process
Work directly with customers to understand requirements and translate them into deployment and DevOps solutions
Design, build, and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines using YAML
Deploy and operate Azure serverless services, particularly Azure Functions
Drive automation across deployment and operational processes to improve reliability and efficiency
Support the modernisation of the platform from VM-based infrastructure to Azure-native services
Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to improve DevOps standards and practices
Contribute to out-of-hours deployments where required, with planned time-in-lieu arrangements
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps
Proven experience building and managing Azure DevOps pipelines
Strong experience deploying Azure Functions and serverless workloads
Experience delivering DevOps and deployment solutions across enterprise environments
Background migrating infrastructure from VM-based platforms to Azure serverless
Automation-first mindset with a strong focus on process and repeatability
Solid cloud / infrastructure foundation, ideally with exposure to Microsoft-based development environments
Experience using AI or automation tooling to improve team efficiency is highly regarded
Excellent customer-facing skills with the ability to communicate confidently and clearly
