Senior Systems Engineer Infrastructure

  • 2 days/week in Dublin OR Limerick office
  • €60k-€70k/year + excellent benefits package

This is a senior technical position within the Systems Services function, responsible for the ongoing management, optimisation, and security of customer ICT environments. The successful candidate will act as a trusted technical advisor for strategic managed services clients, ensuring technology solutions operate effectively, securely, and in alignment with agreed service objectives. The role requires extensive experience across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, virtualisation, infrastructure, data protection, and security technologies, alongside a passion for continuous improvement and emerging technologies including AI, cybersecurity, and data management. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, as the role involves leading technical service reviews and collaborating closely with customers, internal technical teams, and commercial stakeholders.

Your Role

  • Act as the senior technical authority for assigned strategic managed services customers.
  • Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with key customer stakeholders.
  • Lead technical consultations, service reviews, change management activities, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership across cloud services, infrastructure, data protection, disaster recovery, and security solutions.
  • Align technical services with customer priorities, business objectives, and service agreements.
  • Ensure high levels of service quality, performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities for service enhancement and proactively recommend improvements.
  • Support the wider Service Centre through technical escalations, including out-of-hours support where required.
  • Ensure infrastructure management practices align with industry standards, security requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with customers and sales teams to develop ICT roadmaps and strategic technology plans.
  • Manage technical service reporting and ensure agreed reporting obligations are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Participate in major incident management processes and service recovery activities.
  • Maintain and promote information security best practices across all customer environments.
  • Collaborate with Service Centre teams to ensure resources, services, and support activities are aligned with service level objectives.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of customer service documentation, service definitions, and knowledge management systems.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, services, and operational processes to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Participate in ongoing training initiatives covering new technologies, procedures, and service enhancements.
  • Maintain relevant technical certifications and assess their application within customer environments.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and customer-focused culture within the team.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to Systems Engineers and other Service Centre personnel.
  • Support knowledge sharing and technical capability development across the wider organisation.

Your Experience

  • Proven experience delivering technical services within an ICT Managed Services Provider environment.
  • Strong track record of managing technical operations while achieving SLA and KPI objectives.
  • Strong customer service focus with the ability to build long-term client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring technical engineers.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and service excellence.
  • Microsoft Azure, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Azure SQL, and Azure Security services.
  • Microsoft 365 technologies including Intune, Entra ID, Microsoft Defender, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • VMware vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, and VxRail.
  • Microsoft Hyper-V, Virtual Machine Manager (VMM), Storage Spaces Direct (S2D), Nutanix, and SimpliVity.
  • HPE and Dell server, storage, networking, and hyper-converged solutions.
  • Network security technologies including FortiGate, Palo Alto, SonicWall, and Sophos SG/XG.
  • Windows Server administration and management.
  • Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Linux operating systems including RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS, and Debian.
  • Azure Backup, Data Protection Manager (DPM), and Azure Site Recovery.
  • Commvault and Veeam backup and recovery solutions.
  • LogicMonitor.
  • ConnectWise RMM.
  • ConnectWise Manage.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar Senior Systems Engineer or Infrastructure Engineering role.
  • ITIL certification or equivalent practical experience.
  • Microsoft certifications across Microsoft 365, Azure, Security Administration, and Modern Workplace technologies.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, governance standards, and compliance requirements.
