3 interview questions to have a good answer to

Job interviews are stressful at the best of times. In a room with strangers, being asked personal questions that will decide whether or not you get a job offer.

While it would be great to know what hiring managers are going to ask, most of us mere mortals can't read minds - yet. This means it is important to think about what they could ask and prepare an answer that will knock their socks off.

To help with this, we've decided to let you have three answers for free.

1) Can you tell me a little about yourself?

While this might seem like an invitation to explain your family genealogy, the hiring managers don't want to know about your Irish roots. This is a question that features in 99.9 per cent of interviews so it pays to know what to say.

Come up with a couple of accomplishments or experiences that highlight how great you are for the job. This could include qualifications or past roles.

2) What do you consider to be your weaknesses?

Unfortunately, we are not perfect and stating this as your answer will probably win you a trip back to the job column. Hiring managers want to see how honest, open and self-aware you are. 

Think about some areas where you need improvement such as public speaking or presentations etc. Then address how you are working to improve these aspects. This shows that you care about being the best worker possible.

3) Where do you see yourself in five years?

On a beach and drinking cocktails? No, not the answer that hiring managers are looking for. The cost of recruitment is massive for businesses so they need to assess whether or not you are a flight risk. Hiring managers are also interested in your career ambitions or goals.

Think about how far you can get with the company and apply this to your goals. It is important to note that you can say you don't know, but try and relate to how the business will help you decide.
