Database Administrator

Job Overview
Our client, a respected insurance organization, is seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) . The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing database technologies, ensuring high performance, security, and availability across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities
The Database Administrator will be responsible for the following:

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust database systems for optimal performance and security.
  • Manage and optimize databases across Microsoft SQL, Informix, and Postgres platforms, including performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Administer and support Microsoft Cloud database technologies, such as Cosmos DB and Azure SQL Database and Azure Data Lake
  • Monitor database performance, apply changes, and oversee patch updates as necessary.
  • Ensure data integrity and security through comprehensive backup and recovery procedures.
  • Create and enforce database policies to guarantee data accuracy and availability.
  • Conduct regular security audits and work with vendors for compliance and design improvements.
  • Engage in agile processes and collaboration to align database strategies with organizational goals.
  • Provide 24/7 support for mission critical systems

Technical Skills and Experience

  • A degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in IT, with expertise in MS SQL, Informix, and Postgres database administration.
  • Strong understanding of cloud database solutions and Microsoft Azure technologies. MS SQL on prem and cloud solutions.
  • Proficiency in performance monitoring and improvement techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with analytics,  Data modelling and Data flow diagrams, and compliance standards is advantageous.
