Senior Azure DevOps Engineer

  • 3 days/week in South Dublin Location (no sponsorship or relocation available at this time)
  • €100k-€110k/year + 15% bonus + excellent benefits

This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created, high-impact role where you will act as the lead Azure expert in Dublin, shaping the future of cloud engineering within a major insurance organisation. Reporting to the CIO, you’ll take ownership of a mature but evolving Azure environment, leading the transition from legacy on-prem systems to modern, scalable cloud-native solutions. You’ll play a key role in driving DevOps maturity, influencing architecture decisions, and mentoring a growing team. With significant autonomy and visibility, this role offers the chance to truly put your stamp on a large-scale transformation, while building out best practices across infrastructure, applications, and data platforms.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimise Azure infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using ARM templates or equivalent
  • Govern and standardise resource provisioning across DTAP environments
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (Pipelines, Repos, Artifacts)
  • Automate build, test, and deployment processes across applications and services
  • Champion DevOps best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using Log Analytics and related tools
  • Conduct performance tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Embed security best practices including RBAC, secrets management, and pipeline security scanning
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support application lifecycle and deployment architecture
  • Troubleshoot and optimise Azure-hosted applications and services
  • Mentor internal teams and build Azure capability within the Dublin office
  • Support and enhance data pipelines using Azure Data Factory
  • Contribute to the evolution of analytics platforms using Azure Databricks
  • Implement CI/CD for data engineering workflows
  • Lead migration of legacy/on-prem systems to Azure using modern, microservices-based approaches
  • Act as the Azure subject matter expert and technical leader locally
  • Drive planning, prioritisation, and execution of cloud transformation initiatives
  • Work closely with international teams during a structured knowledge transfer period
  • Bring forward ideas, innovations, and strategic improvements to the Azure ecosystem

Your Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in IT, with at least 5 years in Azure, DevOps, or Cloud Engineering roles
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure architecture and services
  • Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps tooling
  • Solid scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
  • Experience migrating legacy/on-prem systems to cloud (beyond lift-and-shift)
  • Exposure to data platforms (Azure Data Factory, Databricks or similar) is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps, cloud security, and cost governance (FinOps)
  • Experience working in distributed/onshore-offshore team models
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to take ownership, work autonomously, and lead technical direction
  • BSc in Computer Science or relevant third-level IT qualification
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g. AZ-400, AZ-305, AZ-104)
  • Cloud security certifications (e.g. CCSP) are a plus
