Head of IT Security / Associate Director of IT Security

Location: Dublin City Centre (Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite)

€100-120k plus package

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Head of IT Security / Associate Director of IT Security to join a growing security function in a well established organisation. You work closely with the CISO to shape and deliver the organisation's security strategy.

This is a unique opportunity for a technically strong security leader who enjoys remaining hands-on while also driving security initiatives, influencing stakeholders, and building high-performing teams. The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting and evolving the organisation's security posture across infrastructure, cloud, applications, and emerging technologies, including AI.

As a trusted partner to the CISO, you will help define security roadmaps, lead critical security programmes, and provide technical leadership across the wider technology organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with the CISO to deliver security strategy and key security initiatives.
Provide technical leadership across security engineering, vulnerability management, threat management, networking, and systems security.
Lead and enhance security operations, monitoring, and incident response capabilities.
Manage and optimise vulnerability management programmes, including Qualys.
Drive the adoption and optimisation of Microsoft security technologies.
Engage with senior stakeholders across technology and the wider business.
Mentor and develop team members, with the opportunity to grow the security team over time.
Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-related security risks and opportunities.

Required Experience

Proven experience in a senior security leadership role.
Strong hands-on technical background across infrastructure and cyber security.
Experience working within Microsoft-centric environments, including:

Microsoft Defender
Microsoft Sentinel
Entra ID (Azure AD)
Microsoft 365 Security
Azure Security

Strong knowledge of vulnerability management, threat management, networking, and systems security.
Experience managing stakeholders and influencing security decisions at a senior level.
Previous people management experience is desirable.
