Senior Data Engineer | Microsoft Fabric & Azure | Galway | Day Rate Contract
I'm partnering with a leading Irish organisation to recruit a Senior Data Engineer for a newly created contract opportunity. This is a hands-on technical role where you'll help build and evolve a cloud-native data platform using Microsoft Fabric and the wider Azure ecosystem. You'll remain close to the technology while also providing technical direction to a growing team.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, build and optimise scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
- Develop robust ETL/ELT processes to ingest and transform data from a variety of sources.
- Help shape the architecture of a modern cloud-based data platform.
- Deliver high-quality, analytics-ready datasets for reporting and AI initiatives.
- Champion engineering best practices, including CI/CD, testing and code quality.
- Provide technical guidance and mentor engineers while collaborating with architects, analysts and business stakeholders.
Your Experience
- Strong background delivering data engineering solutions within Azure.
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse or Databricks.
- Excellent SQL, Python and Spark skills.
- Experience designing data models and building scalable cloud-based data platforms.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD for data engineering.
- Previous experience leading technically or mentoring engineers, with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
