Hydrographer (Level 1) x 1 position
Location: West Ryde
1year contract.
Pay Rate: $33 per hour plus Super

Technical accountabilities:
• Assist in the undertaking of field operations in the collection, fault tracking and related services from hydrometric monitoring networks.
• Assist in the undertaking of calibration and maintenance of field instrumentation at monitoring points, including SCADA / IICATS interfaced systems.
• Assist in the undertaking of data processing and validation tasks and archiving to the HYDSTRA and IICATS database.
• Assist in the Interpretation of hydrometric data and provide timely reporting on water cycle information.
• Ensure all data is quality flagged in accordance with work procedures and project specifications as needed (where necessary)
• Contribute and provide an active involvement in project team activities·
• Assist in the undertaking of field data collection and measurement in line with relevant work instructions and standards.
• Assist in the Maintenance of specialised hydrometric measurement and monitoring equipment in accordance with work procedures.
• Utilise and review the HYDSTRA document file reporting system for storage and reporting (where necessary)
• Assist in the resolution of data anomalies to agreed timeframes as per Monitoring Plan requirements

• Appropriate related tertiary qualifications and or relevant experience of (1-3 years)
• Demonstrated experience working under limited direction and to tight deadlines.
• Ability to undertake minor civil works as required.
• Knowledge of the water cycle and wastewater systems, telemetry and interfaced SCADA systems, hydrometric logging equipment and sensors, instrument calibration procedures and relevant Australian Standards (preferred)
• Relevant experience in undertaking hydrometric and/ or related operations (preferred)

• HYDSTRA database skills and knowledge (preferred but not mandatory) 

• Valid/or ability to obtain Confined Space certificate, General WHS Construction card, RMS Traffic Control certificates, Senior First Aid certificate, Specialist Gas Testing certificate. 
• Valid/ or ability to obtain current inoculations in Hepatitis A, B and Tetanus 
• Valid driver’s licence required (mandatory) 

Additional notes:
Works in a field location on a daily basis and may be exposed to unfavourable conditions and/or situations with a high safety risk.

Must be willing to:
• work in a range of work locations depending on project demands.
• work in adverse weather conditions and in live sewers and wastewater systems.
• work at heights and swim
• Undertake health assessment to align physical capacity to undertake the role.
