- To support this mission, they are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join the Infrastructure Development team and enhance the company's Safety framework. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure (Construction), you will proactively support the Workplace, Health, and Safety of employees, contractors, and visitors.
- In this newly created position, you will initially concentrate on construction, focusing on implementing and improving the company's health, safety, and well-being systems and procedures. You are also going to provide advice and support to internal and external stakeholders on various WHS matters. Your input will be crucial in developing and enhancing WHS systems and procedures from the ground up, allowing you to shape and grow the important aspects of this organization.
- Initially part of the Infrastructure Development team, with your responsibilities expanding across the broader business over the next two years. You will develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations. Working closely with various teams, you will promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- While you will receive support from your colleagues, this role offers the opportunity to make it your own by developing and implementing an innovative operational plan for health, safety, and well-being to achieve positive and lasting outcomes.
What You Will Be Working On:
- Safety Oversight:
- Implement and understand WHS policy, standards, and procedures.
- Collaborate with teams to develop realistic procedures and safety goals
- Analyze WHS data to aid management decision-making and participate in audits
- Assist operations with WHS tools like Risk Assessments and Critical Control Verification.
- Facilitate WHS training and support local EHS committees.
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
- Training and Education:
- Design and oversee safety training programs
- Provide ongoing education and resources to promote safety awareness.
- Incident Management:
- Investigate, report & record safety incidents and near-misses
- Develop corrective actions and maintain accurate records
- Risk Assessment:
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses
- Implement and monitor risk mitigation measures
- Monitor and review risk management processes regularly
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on safety regulations and best practices
- Identify opportunities for improvement in safety processes and procedures.
- Lead initiatives to enhance overall safety culture
What Type Of Person Will Be Successful:
- You must be an Australian citizen to be considered for this opportunity.
- You have obtained a Certification IV in safety management
- You ideally hold a bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field
- Your background includes 3-5 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably within construction or infrastructure development
- You're well-versed in safety regulations and their practical applications
- Your experience encompasses external audits and safety assurance processes
- You excel in communication and interpersonal interactions
- You're comfortable working autonomously while also being a strong team player
- Your flexibility allows for occasional travel to various project sites
- You're adaptable to working in both office and field environments
