Our client is building and operating their own next-generation broadband network to deliver ultra-fast, reliable internet to homes and businesses. Leveraging a mix of technologies including XGS-PON, mmWave Wireless, G.Fast, and IP/MPLS, and offer a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of network engineering.
We are currently looking for a Network Engineer (Mid-Level) to join a dynamic and high-performing team. You’ll play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing our network infrastructure while contributing to new rollouts, performance improvements, and operational excellence.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Network Engineer to join our client’s team. In this hands-on role, you will be instrumental in the assurance, maintenance, and continuous improvement of their dynamic network, which utilizes a mix of cutting-edge technologies such as PON, mmWave wireless, and IP/MPLS. You will monitor network performance, manage incidents, and assist with technical escalations while working closely with the Network Operations team.
Key Responsibilities
Investigate and resolve network incidents across Layer 2/3 (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, etc.)
Maintain and enhance IP/MPLS network operations across multi-vendor environments
Assist with provisioning and commissioning of new sites and services (including fibre and wireless)
Collaborate with field technicians and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues
Participate in network upgrades, patching, and planned change activities
Monitor network performance and capacity, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Document network configurations, update KBAs, and contribute to operational standards
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
3–7 years of hands-on experience in a Network Engineer or NOC role (preferably in a service provider or carrier environment)
Solid working knowledge of routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, VRRP, STP, VLANs)
Experience with MikroTik, Cisco, or Fortinet equipment
Exposure to PON, G.Fast, mmWave wireless, or other last-mile technologies is a plus
Comfort with troubleshooting Layer 2/3 issues and working with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark)
Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA are highly regarded
Australian working rights (PR or Citizenship required)
