Our client is a global enterprise fintech organisation undergoing a major cloud transformation initiative. They are investing heavily in modernising legacy data platforms, migrating mission-critical SQL Server environments into scalable, cloud-native AWS architectures, with a strong focus on Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Solution Architect to lead a large-scale database migration program from SQL Server to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.

You’ll play a critical role in shaping the target-state cloud architecture, defining migration strategies, and ensuring high-performance, secure, and scalable database solutions across enterprise systems.

This role sits at the intersection of architecture, cloud transformation, and delivery leadership, working closely with engineering teams, DevOps, infrastructure, and senior stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading end-to-end SQL Server → PostgreSQL migration initiatives

  • Designing scalable Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL architectures

  • Defining migration strategies (re-platform, refactor, phased cutover)

  • Overseeing schema conversion and stored procedure rewrites (T-SQL → PL/pgSQL)

  • Guiding teams using AWS DMS and Schema Conversion Tool

  • Ensuring performance optimisation, high availability, and disaster recovery design

  • Resolving cross-system integration impacts across APIs and downstream systems

  • Producing detailed solution architecture documentation and cost estimations

  • Engaging senior stakeholders to communicate risk, trade-offs, and migration roadmaps

What We’re Looking For

  • 8–12+ years’ experience in Solution Architecture or Senior Engineering roles

  • Proven experience leading SQL Server → PostgreSQL migrations

  • Hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora (ideally Aurora PostgreSQL)

  • Experience in a financial services/fintech/wealth company

  • Experience modernising legacy enterprise systems

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to explain complex technical decisions
