Senior Network Engineer

Overview

Join our client’s team, an innovative telecommunications company, as they redefine connectivity in Australia. They are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to ensure optimal performance and continuous improvement of their advanced network.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day operation of a network composed of diverse technologies such as PON, mmWave wireless, G.fast, Ethernet, and IP / MPLS. This hands-on role includes troubleshooting and resolving incidents, managing change within the network with minimal service disruption, and acting as a technical escalation point for the customer support team. To succeed in this position, candidates should have over five years of experience in a network operations role, preferably within a service provider environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve network incidents, coordinating with 3rd party vendors as necessary.
  • Plan and implement changes to the network, focusing on minimal service disruption.
  • Coordinate with delivery partners and contractors to address network issues.
  • Conduct peer reviews of changes proposed by network engineers.
  • Manage service provider network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance through proactive monitoring.
  • Handle service activation and provisioning support as required.
  • Provide after-hours support for critical network incidents and change management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Network Operations team.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in network operations, preferably in a service provider context.
  • Strong skills in configuring Cisco and MikroTik devices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, BGP, and ISIS.
  • Experience with various access technologies such as G.fast, VDSL, and XGS-PON.
  • Familiarity with network management tools and protocols like DNS, DHCP, and SNMP.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP/JNCIS/JNCIP are highly advantageous.
  • The right to work in Australia on a permanent basis.
