Senior DevOps Engineer Azure

We’re recruiting a Senior DevOps Engineer for a fast-growing B2B SaaS / data & insights business undergoing a major technical modernisation — moving from VM-based infrastructure to a native Azure serverless platform.

This is a hands-on role with real impact, working directly with customers to guide deployments and migrations, while building the automation and deployment foundations that will scale the platform (and future AI/automation initiatives) over the next few years.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own and improve Azure DevOps (ADO) CI/CD (YAML pipelines), release patterns, and environment promotion.

  • Deliver and operationalise Azure Functions / serverless deployments (incl. deployment strategies, rollback, monitoring).

  • Guide customers through deployments/migrations — translating requirements, planning cutovers, and communicating clearly.

  • Drive automation, standardisation, and process (we’re not 1-touch automation yet, but that’s the goal).

  • Partner with engineering and stakeholders to design the future-state platform while maintaining existing customer environments.

  • Participate in out-of-hours deployments (unpredictable at times), with sensible planning + time-in-lieu practices.

What we’re looking for (must-haves)

  • Strong, hands-on experience with Azure DevOps Services and ADO Pipelines (YAML).

  • Proven delivery of Azure Functions / Function Apps in production (build → deploy → operate).

  • Experience deploying across enterprise environments (multiple apps/services, dependencies, governance).

  • A genuine automation mindset (IaC, repeatability, observability, reliability).

  • Confident communicator — able to be effective in front of customers.

Nice to have

  • Terraform/Bicep/ARM, strong IaC discipline.

  • Azure monitoring/observability (App Insights, Log Analytics, alerting).

  • Experience using AI/DevOps automation to reduce toil and improve efficiency.

  • Growing into leadership (mentoring, standards, uplift of a small team).

What’s on offer

  • $150k – $190k base + super (ideal target $170k–$175k depending on fit)

  • Remote-first across Australia (Sydney / Melbourne / Brisbane encouraged)

  • Greenfield modernisation with real ownership and influence

  • Supportive approach to out-of-hours work (planning + time in lieu)

Process

Two-stage interview process + a short psychometric step.
