About the role:

This is a newly created Senior Business Analyst opportunity within a dedicated Industry Resilience and Crisis Management function. Recently elevated to a standalone team due to its strategic importance, this function provides leadership across industry level severe incident and crisis management, resilience planning, industry wide scenario testing and development of insights to strengthen payments system resilience across Australia.

Sitting in a highly consultative and visible environment, this role supports the uplift of industry capability to plan for, respond to and recover from significant payments incidents. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, members, regulators and government bodies to ensure alignment with evolving resilience expectations.

While strong frameworks and response plans are already in place, the focus of this role is on continuous improvement, strengthening governance and enhancing industry coordination rather than building from scratch.

Key responsibilities:

  • Day to day management and continuous improvement of continuity, incident and crisis management plans
  • Acting as a primary or secondary point of contact for key resilience frameworks and playbooks
  • Coordinating industry wide rapid response activities during significant payment incidents
  • Conducting post incident reviews, deep dive analysis and driving uplift initiatives
  • Designing and running industry wide scenario testing and resilience exercises
  • Monitoring emerging threats including cyber, operational and geopolitical risks
  • Supporting development of industry insights, whitepapers and resilience reporting
  • Working closely with regulators and government bodies to align with resilience expectations
  • Facilitating collaboration across banks and payment service providers
  • Preparing updates for senior stakeholders, executive leadership and board level forums

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in resilience, incident, crisis or business continuity management
  • Strong SME level hands on experience across incident response and crisis frameworks
  • Financial services experience, ideally within banking or payments
  • Exposure to industry level or enterprise wide scenario simulation exercises
  • Strong research, analytical and post incident review capability
  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills, including working with senior executives and regulators
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detailed understanding of payment flows and processes (desirable)
  • Experience working with financial services regulatory bodies (desirable)
  • Exposure to project and or program management environments (desirable)

This is a high impact role offering strong autonomy, executive visibility and the opportunity to strengthen resilience across Australia’s payments ecosystem in a dynamic, fast paced and purpose driven environment.
