About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Business Analyst to act as the key bridge between business stakeholders and the AI, Data and Analytics teams. This role focuses on translating business ideas, opportunities and challenges into clear, structured technical requirements that enable the delivery of data driven solutions.
Working across strategic initiatives, operational improvements and product development cycles, this role will play a central part in shaping how the organisation uses data, analytics and emerging AI capabilities to support decision making and business outcomes.
The position sits within the AI, Data and Analytics team, which is currently building strong data foundations and governance practices before accelerating further data and AI initiatives over the coming years. The team currently includes Data Engineers, reporting developers and analytics specialists working across the organisation’s data platform and reporting environment.
This is a highly autonomous role where the Technical BA will operate as an extension of the business. Stakeholders across the organisation will rely on this person to capture ideas, structure requirements and help move initiatives forward from concept through to delivery.
The role also contributes to improving data literacy across the business, helping teams better understand how to interpret dashboards, work with analytics and use data to support better decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand data, analytics and technology needs, translating these into clear technical requirements.
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions to capture and document functional and non functional requirements.
- Translate business concepts into epics, user stories and acceptance criteria, and manage these through the delivery backlog.
- Collaborate with data engineers, BI developers and architects to design practical data and analytics solutions.
- Map current and future state processes and identify opportunities for automation, optimisation and improved reporting.
- Maintain key documentation including process maps, data flows, business rules and system interactions.
- Support delivery teams through Agile ceremonies and assist with test planning and validation of delivered solutions.
- Act as the key liaison between business and technology teams, ensuring alignment on priorities, progress and outcomes.
- Help business stakeholders understand and adopt analytics solutions, including dashboards and data insights.
Required Experience
- Financial services experience, previous experience working with finance teams or a background in Novated Leasing/Fleet Management are all desirable but not essential.
- 5–8+ years’ experience as a Technical Business Analyst, ideally within data and analytics in enterprise digital transformation initiatives.
- Ability to operate independently with strong autonomy and ownership, identifying opportunities and driving initiatives forward with minimal direction.
- Strong stakeholder management couple with exceptional written and verbal communication skills across executive level, business and technical audiences.
- Strong ability to translate business requirements into structured technical specifications for delivery teams.
- Experience working within Agile environments, including backlog management and user story development.
- Understanding of data platforms, reporting layers and analytics environments.
- Experience working with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric or similar platforms.
- Ability to interpret data models, schemas and technical documentation.
- Experience working with cloud environments ideally Azure, but if not, AWS or GCP is beneficial.
- Strong documentation and process modelling capability using tools such as Visio, Miro or Lucidchart.
