TRC rebrands - appeared in Shortlist 23rd March 2015

Sydney-based recruitment company TRC Group has rebranded as The Recruitment Company.

Managing director Simon Moss said the rebrand simplifies the company's branding and addresses changing consumer requirements. "People want to work with companies that are more friendly, more accessible, and more responsive," he said. The rebrand is one pillar of a transformation that also includes a new company website and "personality", said Moss. "We were working through how we could significantly raise the bar in terms of our industry, changing the way we interact with our customers, and this led us down the path of creating a brand that truly reflects who we really are, and what we're all about," he said.

The company, which was founded in 2000, last year divested its Singapore business in order to focus on strengthening its local operations.

Melbourne Cup at the Opera Bar

Main Image

Melbourne Cup is a celebrated occasion every year. And getting amongst it down at the Opera Bar for the afternoon is a fantastic way to join in the fun. Heading down, dressed to impress, for a 1pm start, we had outside tables for two hours of champagne and canapés leading up to the big race. The guys suited and booted, the girls in spring carnival dresses..all on fine form.

Unprofitable recruitment stems from blind eye to underperformance

Recruitment companies that are unprofitable often have leaders who refuse to address underperformance as soon as it happens, according to an employee engagement and performance specialist.

Agencies generally wait between three and six months before addressing poor performance, by which time the damage has already been done, Employerbility performance specialist Kate Boorer told Shortlist. "You can quantify a recruiter as a business unit – it's very easy to tell if they are making you money or not – and the ease at which you can calculate that means you can't ignore it when it does becomes a pro…

New commission structure part of "healthy fear of failure" culture at TRC - Shortlist August 2014

Main Image

After a 'tough' 2013, TRC Group has restructured and introduced a new commission structure and team-based incentives to improve its profitability, according to company Talent and Training Manager Sarah Banek. The new commission structure involves a third tier – focused on driving better customer service – on top of TRC's two more traditional, results-focused commission tiers, Banek toldShortlist. "Reward percentages increase when the consultants demonstrate the right behaviours, such as respecting your margins and [seeking] high-quality repeat business from clients.
